Historic Settlement Castledawson in Shanemullagh

Historic Settlement Castledawson

What is recorded here

Mulligan’s tale: Castledawson stood in Shanemullagh when post-medieval families worked the land. They built rooms, dug gardens and raised children beside the settlement. Children ran through fields while adults tended crops. The site still belongs to County Derry, preserving the shape of that forgotten neighbourhood.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Historic Settlement Castledawson. Recorded period: POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
