Heuchhoushil appears in national records as a possible medieval tower house, yet no wall, room or roof remains visible to test that claim. The Borders keep many such ghosts: a field margin, a buried stair, a lost gate that someone lived beside before forgetting. Whether the name preserves a real tower or only a boundary marker, it still points to human pride and exposure at that exact place.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Heuchhoushil as Tower House (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
