This blue commemorative plaque records: Morley Town Hall. This magnificent Grade 1 listed building was opened on 16th October 1895 by Rt. Hon. H. H. Asquith MP Liberal Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916. He was born and lived in Morley from 1852-1858, receiving the Freedom of the Borough here in 1913. Architects. Haltom and Fox.
Herbert Henry Asquith served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1908 to 1916, leading Britain during significant social reforms and through the early years of World War I. Born and raised in Morley, he maintained a strong connection to his hometown, receiving the Freedom of the Borough there in 1913.
