Henry Tandey VC DCM MM was a British soldier and the most highly decorated private soldier of World War I, known for his bravery in numerous actions. He is also remembered for an incident at the Battle of Marcoing where he reportedly spared the life of an injured German soldier, later identified as Adolf Hitler.
