This blue commemorative plaque records: Fleetwood Market Opened 7th November 1840 Since then cattle and other goods have been traded on this site. Rossall was awarded a Market Charter in 1235 by King Henry IIl. Recorded plaque organisation: Fleetwood Civic Society.
King Henry III granted a market charter to Rossall in 1235, establishing a legal framework for regular markets that eventually led to the development of Fleetwood Market.
