This white commemorative plaque records: Lincoln Way. To commemorate the indenture dated 8 June 1307 in which Henry de Lact, Earl of Lincoln, Lord of the Honour of Clitheroe, granted to the burgesses of 'Clyderowe and to their heirs all the soil and the woods of Salthille to make their profit thereof in the best manner they can'.
Henry de Lacy was a prominent English nobleman who served as Earl of Lincoln; his grant of Salthill Woods to the burgesses of Clitheroe reflects the significant role he played in medieval land management and local governance.
