Helen Mabel Trevor was born in 1831 at Lisnagead House in Loughbrickland, where her father built her a studio and the estate later funded her European studies. She painted Breton widows, Venetian beadstringers and quiet domestic scenes until a sudden heart attack stopped her in her Paris studio in 1900. The house that gave her a brush and a roof became the launchpad for a life spent chasing light across seas.
