Harry Ferguson was born in County Down, Ireland, in 1884, and later invented the three-point tractor linkage that reshaped global farming. He also became the first Irish person to build and fly his own aeroplane, launching it from Hillsborough in 1909. His birthplace remains a quiet marker for the boy who refused to accept that machines had already reached their final shape.
