This bronze commemorative plaque records: In memory of Major Harold Brown DSO MC Yorkshire Regt. Born here 4th January 1879. Killed in France 23rd March 1918.
Major Harold Brown, a distinguished officer of the Yorkshire Regiment during World War I, was awarded both the Military Cross and Distinguished Service Order for his bravery; he was killed in action in France in 1918.
