Hamilton Water Palace stands at 35 Almada Street, a swimming pool marked without dates in South Lanarkshire. The building still holds the shape of water, even if the pool no longer fills. People may have swum there in private, practiced breath, or played in shallows before the place closed. The palace name suggests grandeur, but the function was ordinary: a room made for drowning and returning.
