Hamilton, 'castlehill'

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hamilton, 'castlehill' as Castle (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Hamilton Castle, also known as 'Castlehill,' was built by the Hamilton family in the late 13th or early 14th century and later held by the Earls of Arran. It is important as a historic seat of the powerful Hamilton clan and as a strategic stronghold in the Clyde Valley.
