Halkirk, Braal Castle

Military Camp (20th Century)

What is recorded here

Halkirk, Braal Castle is a 20th-century military camp in the Highland, Scotland, where armed people trained or waited while the world changed. The camp may have smelled of wet wool, engine oil and fear. Men may have marched past Braal Castle until muscle remembered the route, then forgot the reason. The army left behind a shape in the ground, not a lesson.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
