Gunwalloe Cliff Castle

Fort

What is recorded here

Castle Mound at Gunwalloe is an Iron Age fort perched above the coast, with a path winding up from Dollar Cove to its top. It stands among Bronze Age settlements and round barrows dating from 1110BC, while Gunwalloe Church was built in the 13th-century. The mound still faces the sea, keeping the old shape of a place where people watched the coast and buried their dead beneath it.
Gunwalloe Cliff Castle is shown as a fort on the public map of Cornwall. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
