Walwyn's Castle in Pembrokeshire, Wales, still carries a Post Medieval gun emplacement, a concrete claw gripping the coast. That is a gun platform, not a decorative scar. Build a platform for a gun and the coast becomes a weapon chamber. Whether the chamber fired or merely waited, the concrete still points outward, waiting for the last shot nobody recorded.
