A named place photographed at this map point in Orkney Islands.
Marwick Head in the Orkney Islands features basalt sea cliffs formed during the Paleogene period, around 60 to 55 million years ago, as a result of volcanic activity associated with the opening of the North Atlantic. The cliffs are notable for their dramatic coastal scenery and as a key site for seabird colonies, including the Guillemot.
