This blue commemorative plaque records: Guildhall. Built in 1805-11 by Archibald Elliot, this was subsequently used as a hotel, police station, sheriff court and offices. Its symmetrical Classical design and 132 ft (43 m) spire make it a local landmark
Archibald Elliot was a Scottish architect who designed the Guildhall in Dumfermline, known for its Classical style and prominent spire, which has served multiple civic functions since 1811.
