Greenlaw Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Greenlaw Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Greenlaw Castle was built in the late 14th or early 15th century by the Maxwell family, a powerful Scottish noble clan. It is important as a well-preserved example of a Scottish border tower house and reflects the region's turbulent medieval history.
