Kilnamanagh castle still stands beside a graveyard that stopped being used before memory faded. Disturbed headstones and exposed bones surfaced in the late 18th century, then again in the early 1940s, as if the ground kept giving back what it had swallowed. No marker or wall remains above ground now. The absence does not empty the place; it redirects attention to the bodies, the forgetting and the castle’s shadow.

The OS Letters (ed. O' Flanagan 1927, 63-4) describe the presence of a disused graveyard beside Kilnamanagh castle. It contained disturbed headstones and human remains which had been uncovered in the late 18th century. Further human remains were exposed in the early 1940's (1944, 195). This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
