What is recorded here
Graveslab in Townparks (ardee By.) preserves the oldest noted grave-slabs at St. Mary's, marking Thomas Smart in 1683 and Mary Hatch in 1695. Those dates emerge before much else is known, giving the graveyard a sudden depth. People may have walked past them for generations, reading names or leaving them alone. The stones still hold what memory first gave up.
The oldest noted grave-slabs in the graveyard at St. Mary's (LH017-101025-) are those of Thomas Smart, dated 1683 and Mary Hatch dated 1695 (LH017-101026).
