Graveslab in Gardens (kilkenny City By., St. Mary’s Par.) is a 13th/14th-century limestone fragment bearing an incised cross and fleur-de-lis, now buried beneath the floor of St Mary’s parish church in Kilkenny. It survived demolition, reuse as tomb support for Thomas Archer and Margaret Knaresborough, and centuries of foot traffic before excavation revealed its chamfered edges and fossil-streaked stone. The slab did not disappear; it waited under marble and memory, carrying the shape of a forgotten grave into the living church.
