Graveslab fragment from the 13th or 14th century surfaced on the north side of St. Mary’s Lane in 2005, then moved into the former monuments room at St Mary’s parish church. Whether it marked a knight, a cleric or an ordinary family is no longer certain. The chamber has since disappeared from easy memory, and the slab may have been rebuilt, buried again or lost inside the church itself. What remains is a thin stone edge, still carrying the shape of someone forgotten.
