Graveslab in Friarsland, County Galway. The name itself is a wound: grave and slab, death and surface, buried and exposed. Perhaps a single flat stone marked a child’s pitch or a traveller’s last bed. Perhaps it belonged to no one important enough to remember. That forgetting is the tragedy. The stone may still lie under grass or road, waiting for a hand clumsy enough to touch it and clever enough to stop.
