Graveslab in Friarsland, County Galway, is a buried marker of death and memory, perhaps belonging to a person whose name has vanished. The kind of place is a graveslab, which means stone or structure made to hold identity after life ends. It may have marked a chamber, a burial or a boundary between the living and the dead. Whatever it recorded, it has resisted forgetting long enough to still be named.
