Graveslab in Callan South was a Latin-inscribed floor slab lying at the base of the W tower in St Mary's medieval parish church, Callan, before disappearing from view. It marked John Gorman, formerly a burgess, and its loss turns a familiar church tower into an open wound where memory slipped through the stones.

Formerly at ground-floor level in the W tower of St Mary's medieval parish church (KK026-010012-), Callan. Described by Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 301) as a, 'piece of a floor-slab lying at the base of the tower'. The slab was inscribed in Latin, probably in Black Letter script, though Carrigan does not state this it is implied by his representation of the inscription in Gothic font. Carrigan (ibid.) transcribed it as, 'Hic.....es Gorman quondi burge….' and gives the translation as, 'Here lies John Gorman, formerly burgess....'. This graveslab fragment is currently unlocated.
