Grave Yd is a rectangular Clare graveyard where a medieval church, later chapel, possible round tower, leacht, cross and scattered church fragments share one stone-walled field with mostly nineteenth- and twentieth-century graves. It stands on a gentle south-facing rise beside a holy well, market cross and old settlement, reached through a grassed laneway as if the living world still expects to walk in. The unusual dearth of graves near the tower corner leaves room for wonder: perhaps people kept that place clear for the tower, or perhaps the tower kept that place clear for them.

On a slight rise on a gentle S-facing slope in pasture, within a multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). This rectangular graveyard (c. 42.5m N-S; c. 54.5m E-W), which is indicated and named on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, is enclosed by a stone wall. Access is gained at NW via a grassed-over laneway off the road to its N. Most of the graves date to the 19th and 20th centuries. A medieval church (CL009-059023-) occupies its N half and a later chapel (CL009-059027-) is visible in the SE corner. There is a leacht (CL009-059120-) and cross (CL009-059028-) at SSE, and the remains of a possible round tower (CL009-059121-) in the NW corner, where there is a noteworthy dearth of graves. Large (2011) has identified several architectural fragments from the church scattered within it. Outside the graveyard there is a holy well (CL009-059026-) c. 70m to the E, a settlement cluster (CL009-167----) c. 18m to the S and a market cross (CL009-059025-) c. 23m to the NW.
