What is recorded here

A subrectangular graveyard (c. 60m NW-SE; c. 50m NE-SW), with a recent extension to E, enclosed by a stone wall and containing many 19th- and 20th-century grave-plots marked with limestone headstones. There are no visible remains of the of the possible church (SL040-14801-) which was reported here in 1836 (OSL, 151). In the graveyard is a 17th-century recumbent graveslab (SL040-148006-) of Thomas C. Mervin, who died in 1672 (pers. comm. M. B. Timoney). Some quernstones, metal slag and a sandstone window fragment from here are in the NMI (pers. comm. M. A. Timoney). It has also been noted (M. B. Timoney 2001b, 54) that the memorials in the graveyard are arranged in a curving pattern, possibly indicating the former existence of a possible circular ecclesiastical enclosure (SL040-148004-).
