What is recorded here

Grave Yard in County Laois holds post-1700 headstones inside an irregular 57m by 60m area. A 1m high, 0.5m thick 19th century wall encloses the place, while a church occupies the southern quadrant. Some markers remain uninscribed, preserving the quiet mystery of the people they mark.
Irregularly shaped graveyard (int. dims. 57m N-S; 60m E-W) defined by a 19th century wall (H 1m, Wall T 0.5m) with church located in S quadrant. Some uninscribed gravemarkers visible. Most headstones are post 1700 AD. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 December 2007
