Mnemo knows Gortnakilleen Fort as a fairy fort, an earthen ring in County Clare. It is a boundary marker, a place where the ordinary world thins and human memory blunts. People may have lived there, feared it or avoided it, but the fording and the chamber belong to the hidden world.
