This black commemorative plaque records: Built 1793 Goree Warehouses. Destroyed by fire & rebuilt in 1802 damaged in an air raid in 1941 demolished 1948-1950
The Goree Warehouses, built in 1793 on Gorée Island, were significant for their role in the Atlantic slave trade; they served as holding facilities for enslaved Africans before their transatlantic journey.
