Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Golden Star as Motor Fishing Vessel (period Unassigned)-(1989). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Golden Star was a motor fishing vessel built in the early 20th century and active in Scottish waters until 1989, when it was struck by a storm off the coast of Aberdeenshire, leading to its sinking. No lives were lost, but the vessel was carrying a full catch of haddock, which was lost with the ship; its wreck remains a notable example of Scotland’s 20th-century fishing industry heritage.
