What is recorded here
Godfrey is a nineteenth-century craft recorded near Brodick Castle on Arran, though the exact point remains a kilometre wide on the official map. It may have been a small boat, a working deck or a forgotten name written in haste. The Firth of Clyde keeps many such losses, and Arran still stands beside the water that took them.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Godfrey: Brodick Castle, Arran, Firth of Clyde as Craft (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran was originally built in the 13th century by the Lords of the Isles and later held by the Campbell family from the 15th century. It is important as a historic seat of power and as a well-preserved example of medieval and later Scottish castle architecture.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
