This blue commemorative plaque records: Gloucester House. 18th century. At one time the home of Mrs Rebecca Powell (1642-1722) who endowed the Yellow School, later Powell's School in Gloucester Street Recorded plaque organisation: Cirencester Civic Society.
Rebecca Powell was a benefactor who lived in Gloucester House; she is remembered for endowing Powell's School, originally known as the Yellow School, which has contributed to education in the area since the early 18th century.
