This blue commemorative plaque records: Globe Hotel The Globe Hotel stood on this site through much of the 18th and 19th centuries. It was a posting house and also from where a frequent coach service left for Exeter and Salterton. The Hotel's hallroom was known as the Long Room the centre of various activities from banquets, Petty Sessional Courts, theatre and for the original non-conformist meeting in Exmouth in 1776. The hotel was demolished in 1866 to make way for the building of Rolle Street. Recorded plaque organisation: Exmouth Society.
The Globe Hotel, situated in Exmouth through much of the 18th and 19th centuries, served as a crucial posting house and departure point for coach services to Exeter and Salterton, while also hosting significant community events including the first non-conformist meeting in Exmouth in 1776. The hotel's demolition in 1866 marked the end of its role as a central hub for local social, judicial, and religious activities.
