Glenn Ferguson was born at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Belfast, on 10 July 1969, the youngest of three children. He grew up playing for Fisher Body before joining Ards in 1987, launching a career that would produce 1,040 appearances and 563 goals. Local fans still call him Spike, a nickname that stuck because he never stopped moving and never stopped scoring.
