Glen of the Hole

Castle (medieval)(possible)

What is recorded here

No wall or stone still stands in Glen of the Hole, yet the glen keeps its shape: a deep hole where the Gordons of Clanyard are said to have built a castle. That missing tower may have fallen, rotted or been torn out, but the hole remained sharp enough to name the valley. Walk beside it and the absence becomes active, a castle-shaped gap in the earth rather than a dead fact on a page.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Glen of the Hole as Castle (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
