Scottish Borders castle country: The Glen, also called Glen House, stands in the Quair Water glen near Innerleithen. The estate appears in records from the 13th century, but the present house dates from the mid-19th century, when Charles Tennant commissioned David Bryce to build a bold Scottish Baronial residence. Tennant’s family turned the place into a fashionable Victorian home, complete with gardens, a temple, stables and a lion gate, while guests and shooting parties passed through its rooms.
