George Jeffreys, 1st Baron Jeffreys, was a notorious judge who presided over the Bloody Assizes, sentencing hundreds to death or penal transportation following the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685. His harsh judgments made him a symbol of royal tyranny and earned him the nickname "Bloody Assize."
