This grey commemorative plaque records: In memory of George H. Peirce Foreman with the East Sussex County Council who died on 17th December, 1971 whilst in charge of the reconstruction of Burwas High Street "Lector, si monumentum requiris circumspice"
George H. Peirce was a dedicated public servant and foreman with East Sussex County Council, remembered for his contributions to local infrastructure projects, particularly the reconstruction of Burwash High Street where he tragically lost his life in 1971.
