This blue commemorative plaque records: Sir George Cayley "The Father of Aeronautics", born at Scarborough 27th December 1773. Died at Brompton Hall 15th December 1857 Recorded plaque organisation: Scarborough and District Civic Society.
Sir George Cayley was a pioneering British engineer and inventor, renowned for his foundational contributions to aeronautical engineering, including the design of the first successful human glider in 1853.
