An attractive feature in the street scene exhibiting a traditional construction in locally-sourced rubble limestone: the resulting textured visual effect is imbued with a pleasing aesthetic quality lacking in modern cast- and reinforced concrete boundary walls. An inscribed benchmark identifies the further significance of the site on account of the historic associations with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey.
