Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Garbeg as Cairnfield (prehistoric), Field System (medieval) - (post Medieval), Hut Circle(s) (prehistoric), Rig and Furrow (medieval) - (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

A Neolithic cairnfield with hut circles and later medieval agricultural features; significant as a multi-period site illustrating long-term land use in the prehistoric and medieval periods.
