What is recorded here
This green commemorative plaque records: Gaol House. This building of 1784 housed the town gaoler and replaced an earlier gaoler's house. In the prison yad behind are some 18th century cells. This was the town Police Station until 1954. Recorded plaque organisation: Rotary Club of Kings Lynn Trinity.
Gaol House served as both living quarters for the town gaoler and a place of detention in King's Lynn, representing local law enforcement history from the late 18th century until its conversion into a police station in 1954.
