What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in Glanleam, County Kerry, set inside a later earthwork called Cromwell's Fort. The stone predates the fort by millennia, forcing people to build around or ignore what already stood there. Its base is packed with stones, and a leaning slab may have steadied it after Chatterton found it shaking in 1839. The place is a collision of ages: old stone, new fort, and human hands keeping both visible.
