What is recorded here

Gallaun stands beside a walled presbytery yard and a ringfort in West Cork, its sub-rectangular stone aligned north-east to south-west. The area contains at least two distinct upright stones recorded under the same name, one reaching 3.43 metres inside a later fortification on the Iveragh Peninsula and another measuring 2.3 metres beside the presbytery. Both are ancient enough to predate the surrounding human structures, yet they still occupy ordinary local ground where churches, forts and daily life formed around them.
