Gallaun is a tall standing stone in County Cork that predates the later fort around it by millennia. The stone still stands beside a packing slab, steady where Chatterton once found it shaking. Its age turns the ordinary fort into a layered place, where human hands kept returning to mark the same ground across centuries.

In pasture atop hill with commanding views in every direction. Rectangular stone (H 2.9m; 1.9m x 0.8m) aligned NE-SW. Originally stood on outer bank of trivallate ringfort (CO095-03201-) - now levelled. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
