What is recorded here

Gallán was a single standing stone on an east-facing pasture slope in County Cork, visible on the 1940 map but absent from earlier ones, then removed without a trace. It may have marked a boundary, a burial, or a place where people gathered when the light struck it at dawn. Its disappearance is not a loss of fact but a return of the landscape to mystery, stripping the stone from human memory and leaving only the grass to remember the shape of what stood there.
