What is recorded here

Gallan stands in a low marsh beside the Belgooly river, where high tide still touches its base. The rectangular stone rises two metres and forty-five centimetres from the wet ground, pointing northeast and southwest like a marker forgotten by the sea. It is the kind of place that invites wondering about who set it there and what the water took from around it.

In low lying marsh on W side of Belgooly river estuary. High tide floods to around base of stone. Rectangular stone (H 2.45m; 1m x 0.65m), long axis NE-SW.
