What is recorded here

Gallán is a subrectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 1.5 metres on a northwest-facing pasture slope. Its long axis points east-northeast to west-southwest, and it remains absent from the 1842 Ordnance Survey map. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial, a meeting place or a warning, yet no human name or date has survived to confirm that use. It still stands in grass, patient and unread, waiting for someone to remember what it was set to hold.
