What is recorded here

Gallán is a rectangular standing stone in County Cork scrubland, tall enough to block the horizon but small enough to hide from memory. It has stood since before human records, watching seasons turn and people come and go. Its long axis points northeast-southwest, as if aiming at something invisible. In quiet moments it feels less like rock and more like a marker for forgotten time.

Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. In level scrubland. Stone (H 1.55m; 0.59m x 0.99m) is rectangular in plan, long axis NE-SW.
