Galláin

In level pasture on E side of Foherish River basin. Monument destroyed between 1977 and 1986. Stones stood 9.4m apart, aligned NW-SE. NW stone was 1.05m L, 0.55m T and 1.35m H. SE stone was 0.6m L, 0.4m T and 1.7m H. Site of possible stone circle (6484) c. 50m to E. Likely dating to the Bronze Age, the alignment of the stones at Galláin, Gortavranner may have had ceremonial or astronomical significance. Such paired standing stones often marked territorial boundaries, ritual sites, or waystations along ancient pathways.
